Alston - South Tynedale Railway Bellingham - Hareshaw Linn, Heritage Centre Bolam Lake Border Forest Gateshead - The
Sage, Gateshead - just 40 minutes drive will take you to this Baltic Centre, Gateshead, international centre for the contemporary visual arts. MetroCentre, one of Europe's largest shopping and leisure centres is located in Gateshead, three miles south west of Newcastle Upon Tyne Kielder Water - Less than an hours drive takes you to the largest man-made lake in Europe and one of Britain's biggest nature resorts, home to red squirrels, deer and rare birds. Near to Kielder Castle is Purple Mountain Bike Hire Centre which provides for all cycling needs and gives access to cycle trails suitable for anything from gentle family cycling to the challenging single track of Deadwater and the Castlewood Skills park for the adrenaline junkies. Newcastle - Theatre Royal - hosts seasons of the RSC, Northern Opera etc. Here you can see London's West End productions while staying in the beautiful countryside of around Hadrian's Wall and only having a 40 minute journey.
