Chipchase Castle Nursery Web Site

One of the Top 25 Great Nurseries - Daily Telegraph October 2008

The nursery is enclosed in a Victorian walled garden adjacent to the grounds of Chipchase Castle which was built in 1621 and is one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in the country.

The castle and it's 3 acres of gardens are open to the public

Alison & Joyce welcome visitors to view the labelled borders packed with plants of interest to garden enthusiasts and novices. There is a diverse selection of hardy perennial plants, many of them rare or unusual. Specialist plants include hardy geraniums, eryngiums, erodiums and penstemons.

Chipchase Castle Nursery gives help and advice on plant choices and offer a free "design a border" service to customers using plants from the nursery. A professional garden design facility is also available. Most of the plants are available by mail order.

Chipchase Garden Shop

The garden ‘bothy’ shop, offers shelter, sit down and self-serve teas/fresh coffees and stocks a small selection of locally produced items all with a gardening or plant related theme.

There is a selection of Chipchase seeds, new and second-hand gardening books, handmade clay pots from ‘The Potting Shed’ in Hexham, glassware from ‘Papershed’ in Morpeth, and gardener’s skin care products from ‘Lotions and Potions’ in Bellingham, as well as photographs and cards produced by local people.
