The
nursery is enclosed in a Victorian walled garden adjacent to the grounds
of Chipchase Castle which was built in 1621 and is one of the finest
examples of Jacobean architecture in the country.
The castle and it's 3 acres of gardens are open to the public

& Joyce welcome visitors to view the labelled borders packed
with plants of interest to garden enthusiasts and novices. There
is a diverse selection of hardy perennial plants, many of them
rare or unusual. Specialist plants include hardy geraniums, eryngiums,
erodiums and penstemons. |
Chipchase
Castle Nursery gives help and advice on plant choices and offer
a free "design a border" service to customers using plants
from the nursery. A professional garden design facility is also available.
Most of the plants are available by mail order.

Garden Shop
The garden ‘bothy’
shop, offers shelter, sit down and self-serve teas/fresh coffees and
stocks a small selection of locally produced items all with a gardening
or plant related theme.
There is a selection
of Chipchase seeds, new and second-hand gardening books, handmade clay
pots from ‘The Potting Shed’ in Hexham, glassware from ‘Papershed’
in Morpeth, and gardener’s skin care products from ‘Lotions
and Potions’ in Bellingham, as well as photographs and cards produced
by local people.
