| In the fresh clean air of Hadrian's Wall country, our herds enjoy a great quality of life. Our animals are hardy enough to spend most, if not all, the year on the hills. Few rare breed farmers go to the extent of ensuring a 100% pedigree throughout all herds, but we want to bring you the best of the best - so for us this is a priority. Dexter, for example, is the smallest breed of cattle in England and the meat yield is therefore lower, despite production costs being similar to larger animals. We rear Dexter beef because of its exceptional quality rather than for any other commercial reason. Our cows are predominantly grass fed, although silage is available to them in winter. Our pigs are fed on barley, wheat and broad beans, all of which are sourced locally in Northumberland. The Berkshire breed is, once again, chosen purely on quality of meat. We believe that our careful rearing of these rare breeds delivers the outstanding quality that has won us awards and notoriety throughout the region. Not only that, but we butcher all the meat ourselves on the premises so that we never lose the all important traceablility. Therefore, we can assure you that all the meat we sell has been carefully checked at each step of the process.
In our new, purpose-built farm shop, we sell our beef, pork and lamb, as well as a wide range of complimentary products and items which we source carefully. We also made our own pickles and chutneys for you to enjoy. Our award-winning sausages and burgers are all made on the farm to our own recipes. We do not use preservatives or additives and you can taste the difference. The same goes for our gammon and bacon, we cure all our bacon products on the farm and we're proud of the awards we have won.
In the coffee-shop you can experience our home-made cakes and scones alongside a top-class cup of cappuccino, latte, or choose from our selection of other drinks. It's a good idea to time your visit to include lunch, as a special treat, why not stop by on a Sunday and enjoy a tasty Sunday roast? We always feature our own quality roast meat as well as other locally sourced ingredients. Because we do not offer a mail order or online ordering service at this time, we warmly invite you to drive out in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside and visit us at our purpose-built farm shop and cafe near Haltwhistle. We're very easy to find, and once you're here we have generous car parking facilities.
