The Hearth is situated in Horsley in the Tyne Valley, Northumberland, an area rich in history. Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site is just up the road. The eight working studios, café and community hall are situated in the restored Victorian manse, with its wattle and daub walls, and in the original church buildings. Our resident artists work in a variety of media, including watercolour, ceramics, original print and knitted, embroidered and woven textiles. You are welcome to visit their studios, although occasionally their practice takes them away from the Hearth. Our artists offer their work for sale. Some also run classes and courses and work to commission. In the Hearth Reception there is a gallery area with a selection of work for sale by our resident artists. For more information about each artist, please see their individual profiles on our website www.thehearth.co.uk
