former Waiting Room, built in 1852, part of Staward Railway Station.
The detached cottage
is south facing with mature gardens. It has been recently refurbished
to very high standards, retaining many original features including
original tongue'n'groove walls, fireplace and ticket hatch. The station
platform, with garden furniture and parasol, provides an extensive
patio for alfresco dining.
Situated in the
North Pennines Area of outstanding beauty overlooking Staward Gorge,
Allenbanks National Trust site, there is easy access to Hadrian's
Wall World Heritage site. The
dramatic
Northumberland coast and the famous Lake District are 45 minutes drive
away.
Locally there
is an abundance of wildlife and many off road walks. There is a Pub
serving food 1 mile away and shops 3 miles.
The Waiting Room
is open
all year for short stay and weekly lets. It has a twin double bedroom,
plus double sofa bed, (Sleeps 2 (+2), a multi fuel stove, Sky TV,
washing machine, dryer, microwave, fridge/freezer, central heating,
duvet, linen and towels. The
cottage is Non smoking and accepts pets by arrangement. Fishing,
horse riding and country sports can be arranged at additional cost.

A69 West then
A686 for 5 miles past Langley Castle, Langley Sawmill, past pub then
left, 1 mile, signposted Catton and Allendale - 100 yds cottage on
the left.
From M6 jct 40
take A686 towards Alston and Hexham. Follow road through Alston and
Whitfield. At top of hill follow road signposted Catton and Allendale,
cottage over hump bridge on right. From M6 jct 44, then A69 East towards
Hexham, then A686 for 5 miles past Langley Castle, Langley Sawmill,
past pub then left signposted Catton and Allendale - cottage on the
left.
