Cawfields settlement is two miles from Haltwhistle and is the access point to one of the highest and most rugged sections of the Wall.
Chesters The Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall at Chesters marks the point where the Wall crossed the River North Tyne.
Chesters Walled Gardens Two acre walled garden famous for its organically grown herbs and flowers.
Craglough Looking east from above Crag Lough towards Hotbanks Crags provides one of the most memorable views.

Heavenfield Heavenfield Battlefield
Haltwhistle  Herding Hill Farm,  Northumberland Rare Breed Meat - Farm Shop and Coffee Shop - providing rare breed meat and award-winning sausages and burgers made on the farm.
Hotbanks  
Horsley Printmakers Horsley Printmakers is one of eight artists’ studios based in a converted 17th century manse and 19th century schoolrooms. There is also an excellent coffee shop.
Housesteads  
Matfen Eighteenth-century planned estate village with a gently flowing stream, village green and attractive stone dwellings, also Matfen Hall Golf and Spa and do not miss the High House Farm Brewery tour and real ales.
Peel Crag Peel Crag is a long outcrop that runs west for 800 metres from the big gap in the escarpment, separating it from Crag Lough, with the Roman Wall, following the line of its crest.
Roman Army Museum Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum are in the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country - Rome's Mighty Northern Frontier.
Sewingshields Sewingshields Crags near Once Brewed is on Hadrian's Wall National Trail
Standing Stone Located just off the B6318 and close to Hadrians Wall are two standing stones, the larger stone standing 1.51m high, the other 0.98m high at a distance apart of 4.82m.
Steel Rigg An excellent starting point for a number of glorious walks
Sycamore Gap and a tree made famous by the Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves"
Horsley The Hearth Art and music centre in Horsley village contains a coffee shop serving light lunches and open daily from 10am until 4.30pm- tel 01661 852022. Also within the manse are 6 art/music studios which are open on several days to the public. The Hearth has a wide range of activities including walks to the Hadrian's Way National Trail, a village history trail, music nights courses in art, creative writing and much more.
Vindolanda Vindolanda is the site of several forts. The first timber fort dated from AD 90 and the stone fort was not built until the second century. Vindolanda boasts an impressive museum which contains many artifacts such as armour and writing tablets which provide details of what it was like to live here during this age. 
Walltown There are good car parks close to the Wall at Housesteads (see below), Steel Rigg, Cawfields and Walltown. A year round "Hadrian's Wall Bus" connects all the major sites to the main town of Hexham.

  Trails, Cycle Ways and Walks
   
Hadrians- Wall Path National Trail The 84 mile National Trail takes walkers along the riverside route in Tyneside, through farmland in Tynedale and the grazing upland section dominated by the Whin Sill enscarpment. It then gradually descends to the rich pastures of Cumbria and finally the salt marsh of the Solway Estuary. See more about walking the wall.
Hadrian's Cycleway The 160 mile (256 kilometres) cycling route stretches the length of the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site linking Ravenglass on the Cumbrian coast to Tynemouth near Newcastle. The majority of the route is now open and signed. Most of it follows well-surfaced gravel cycle paths, tarmac cycle paths and quiet minor roads. There are no difficult off-road sections, but there are a few steep, short hills in the central section (up to 150m height climb). See more about cycling the wall.
Pennine Way The Pennine Way has something to offer every long distance walker. You want to test your stamina and endurance? Here is a 270-mile walk that will take you from the Peak District National Park along the Pennine ridge through the Yorkshire Dales, up into Northumberland, across the Cheviots, setting you down in the Scottish Borders.
South Tyne  Trail The South Tyne Trail follows the route of the River South Tyne from the source to Haltwhistle. Open to walkers and cyclists it is almost 23 miles (36.5km) long and is a fantastic two-day experience in the North Pennines.

Tyne Valley Railway The Tyne Valley line offers an ideal opportunity to explore the area. Most stations enjoy an hourly service or better. These walks are all linear, using the train for the other half of your journey. These Tyne Valley trails will let you explore the countryside near Hadrian's Wall. These walks lead you through woodlands, along riverside paths and across open fell in an area with a wealth of history, folklore and wildlife, south of Hadrian's Wall.
Allen Banks & Staward Gorge Wooded gorge of the River Allen a natural river gorge cutting through ancient woodland. A site of Special Scientific Interest for its rich plant and animal life. There are incredible views from a medieval pele tower on a hillside above the gorge. Beauty and tranquillity with miles of footpath to explore.
Northumberland National Park Northumberland National Park, the land of the far horizons - a landscape of limitless beauty from Hadrian's Wall to the Cheviot Hills.
Once Brewed Once Brewed is situated close to Hadrian's Wall and is the main Visitor Centre for exploring the National Park and World Heritage Site.

Belsay -Castle and Grounds Belsay has something for everyone. A fine medieval castle, enlarged into a mansion in the 17th century; the imposing Greek Revival villa which was built later; and the outstanding, plant-rich gardens linking the two buildings.
